Hello again everybody!
It's starting to get a little chilly here in Indiana. Sometimes the
high is only mid 50's and we've had to start wearing our sweaters when
we ride around. I kinda look like a nerd in my sweater. And at night
we wear our big coats cuz its pretty dang cold riding around on a
bike. It would be really nice to have a car right now haha.
We found a few new investigators this week and had some really good
lessons. I'm starting to get the hang of contacting people on the
streets. Before i was pretty nervous to talk to people but now its
pretty easy to just talk to everyone. We're supposed to talk to at
least 20 people per day, which is pretty hard, but we're trying!
One investigator we have, his name is Robert, his wife is a member in
our ward and he has been investigating the church ever since she was
Baptized.(3 years ago) Robert and his wife are awesome. They LOVES the
missionaries. He took us out to breakfast and lunch on wednesday and
we spent like 4 hours with him doing yard work. He's going to be
getting back surgery tomorrow and he wont be going to work for like 3
months. So this is the perfect time to teach him and for him to read
the Book of Mormon. He really like our church a lot and believes a lot
of the stuff but his only problem he's had is that he works a ton and
he didn't want to join until he could be fully committed. So like I
said, this is the perfect time for him to become committed to it. Oh
and every single time we go over there they feed us. It's awesome.
One awesome experience I had this week was from zone conference. The
district leaders and sister training leaders were giving trainings.
During the first training, from the sister training leaders, one
sentence they said really stood out and hit me with the spirit. One of
the sisters said to all of us "The Lord is Proud of you". For the past
few weeks I've really been wondering if I'm being a good missionary. I
just have really wanted to work hard and have the Lord be proud of my
work. And one night I asked in prayer if i was being a good
missionary. And when Sister Kenzle said "The Lord is Proud of you" it
hit me with such force that I instantly knew that was the Lord
speaking through her directly to me. No matter what we as missionaries
do the Lord will always be proud of us. Some of us may be Baptizing
every week and some of us may not get a Baptism for months, but if we
are fulfilling our purpose to invite others to come unto Christ we are
doing our job and the Lord is proud of us for that. We may have
discouraging thoughts when 20 people in a row tell you they aren't
interested. We might think we are doing a crappy job and that we
should quit. But those negative thoughts aren't coming from our
savior. Those thoughts are satan trying to drag us down. He wants us
to quit. He wants us to feel like crap. But if we shut out those
thoughts and focus on what the Lord is saying to us we will find that
all he has to say is postitive things. He loves each and every one of
us. He's the one saying "good job"and "keep going". If we rely on him
and ask for help he will give it to us. That's why he is our Savior,
because he will not let us fall without helping us get back up. He is
proud of all of us. No matter what we do. We all have our strengths
and weaknesses, but he is proud of us for the good things we do. Being
a missionary is hard. It's the hardest thing I've ever done. Moving
pipe at 6 in the morning was a ton easier than this. But there is
nothing more rewarding than this. And I work for the greatest boss in
the world, The Savior. He will not call us to do his work and let us
suffer! That's not why he calls us. We may struggle for a bit but we
will begin to prosper and have success. I've realized this all from
that one sentence, "The lord is Proud of you". It's amazing how the
lord speaks to us and how powerful his words are. Never get
discouraged in life. The very jaws of hell may gape open at you but it
will be only for our good and benefit. My testimony grows each day and
my love for the Lord grows. I hope everyone who reads this realizes
how much the lord loves you.
I love and miss you all!
Elder Eastin
