Church cancelled again, progressing family

Hi Fam!
Well the snow is still here but it was raining a lot the other day and caused a lot of flooding. It wasnt warm enough to melt the snow but it made it super slushy and now its frozen. Wild weather here.
Church was cancelled AGAIN... That was a big bummer. Spent the day working like normal. We visited a lot of members and we had dinner with the bishop and then we ended up going over to another members house with the bishop and his family and having a little sacrament meeting there. About 15 people people were there. It was a nice spirit. It has made me appreciate the sacrament much MUCH more. Be so thankful for the sacrament. It really does change you.

The H family (the new family we are teaching) is doing awesome. We had our first lesson with the parents the other night and it was sooooo good! She wanted to learn so bad and she loved everything we taught. We committed her to baptism on April 4th and we committed him to repent and tog et back into church so he can be worthy to baptize his wife and 3 kids. We are trying to start to teach the kids. They were bummed that church was cancelled. Tonight we are going over to teach them how to have FHE. Christy (the mom) LOVED the idea about FHE. She turned to Charley(the husband) and said "You could have been teaching me these things this whole time??" It was funny. We love them so much. This is a family that will be going through the temple to be sealed one day. I know it. I pray for it.

Transfer calls will be this saturday... I am nervous. I dont want to leave now that we just found this family!! But, I will go wherever the Lord wants.

It was so nice to shovel peoples driveways this week. We literally were placed at the right place at the right time in many instances. We were driving by a house and saw to older ladies walking through deep snow to their van which hadnt been touched since the snow storm and they were going to try to get out. Now way jose. They moved like a foot and got stuck. Luckily, we were driving by and saw it and jumped out and dug them out and cleared their whole driveway so they could get to the store. Talked to them for a few minutes and the younger one said that shes read the Book of Mormon and was trying to find a large copy for here mother so she could read it. Well, luckily we have 1 large copy of the Book of Mormon in our apartment!:) So, they are new investigators:) It was great.

Reached 18 months this last week. Seems like time doesnt exist here. It just flys by.

Love yall lots!!!

Kentucky Snow Storm

Hello family! I am alive and well and mostly warm!
What a wild wild week this past week has been. Let me just start by saying that I got to shake an apostles hand for the first time. Yes, shook Elder Christoffersons hand. It was awesome. Such and amazing 2 hours that we got to spend with him. What an amazing spirit he brings. He's also quite funny and comical too. One missionary asked a Question to him, "what do we do when people want to Bible bash?" And he answered, " Well, you take your Bible like this"(as he raises it over his shoulder like he's ready to throw it) Everyone started to laugh, it was so funny. There is nothing else like hearing the testimony of a special witness of Jesus Christ in person. Holy Cow, its... indescribable.

K, now to the snow storm. Church got cancelled this last sunday. I miss the sacrament terribly. And on Monday morning at 6 AMit started to snow, and snow and snow and snow... It didn't let up until almost midnight that night. And it snowed more the next day too. I set a 6 inch tall cup on top of our car outside in the morning and by early afternoon it was buried. We were inside our apartment from 9 PM Sunday night till noon on Tuesday. I was going nuts from be stuck inside all that time. Over a foot of snow fell and it looks awesome.

I have missed the snow. When we got out, we searched and searched for snow shovels at almost every store possible and no one carried snow shovels. They are basically non-existent here. Eventually a member found 2 really nice ones at a towing company and he bough them and brought them up to us and we went to work with them. We've cleared so far almost 10 driveways. And we will be clearing a couple more today. People wanted to pay us but we wouldn't accept it. One old lady tried to give us $60 for clearing one lane in her driveway but we didn't take it. It has been so fun. Our car is the worst for driving in snow. Its low and heavy but we've made it around. Roads are clear now. But now there is an ice storm coming tomorrow that may dump 3-5 inches of rain and then freeze it. It might be pretty bad. Probably wont have church again is my guess. Bummer. But we'll be alright!

Real quick, we found a family to teach. A whole family.  A mom and Dad and 3 kids. The dad is an inactive member and the rest of his family are non-members and they just moved into our area and we found them sitting in their truck the other day. and they are awesome. She loves the Book of Mormon and we are going to have a full restoration lesson with them tonight and we are going to invite him to prepare to be worthy to be able to baptize his wife and kids!! What a miracle this will be.

Anyways, wish I could write more but we need to go. Gotta go clear some more driveways and teach.

Love you all so so much!!
P.S- one picture is of me sitting by the oven. Our heat isn't working very well so we wanted to warm up our feet haha. Its is the negatives right now!

Meeting with a preacher and anticipating zone conference

Last Monday was such a great experience! At 6 that evening we went to the church of Christ for a study with the Preacher there. He was really nice and the church was cool. They had on the wall how much money had been made from the offering plates, it was about $1500 and they had their goal posted for the next week, $2000. Crazy crazy. Anyways, we sat down and he dove right in to the study without a prayer. He started reading scriptures out of the Bible and he was talking about how the Bible is perfect and its all we need. And inside my head I was just like, "Oh boy here we go, he knows about the Book of Mormon". So long story short, we didn't bash, it was a good conversation and a great time for us to testify and to feel the Holy Ghost bear witness of our message. But he explained how God has spoken to us and he speaks no more. They don't believe in revelation and the Holy Ghost ended with the Apostles. It literally was an example of what Christ told Joseph Smith in the first vision. "They have a form of Godliness, but they deny the power thereof". And a perfect example of 2 Nephi 29. "A Bible, a bible!. We have a Bible and we need no more Bible!" When we left there I had such a greater desire to teach more people. I wanted everyone to know that God still speaks to us today. I've always had that desire but it was intensified because of that experience.

Not much else to say about this week! We have a few awesome meetings this week! Zone conference and also a mission conference with Elder Christoferson! Its going to be awesome!!!

I love you all so much!!

Towel fights, stump on power line, and a dream of Steve and Colleen

Hello!
So awesome conference coming up in a few weeks. Elder Christoferson is coming to the mission to do a mission wide conference for a couple of hours. We are super excited for it!! That will happen on the 14th of this month.

Honestly not a ton happened this week. Have a few funny stories though.

Got a referral for a Bible a few day ago. Well the lady that ordered in lives out in the back hills of Kentucky. No Joke. It was 33 miles south east of our area and took over an hour to get there. I will send some pics of some of the houses we saw near her trailer. Oh and when we got to her address (and honestly it was a miracle that her mailbox had a number on it) we couldn't get to her trailer because the raod was so muddy and we would have gotten stuck. Couldn't walk to it either because it said not trespassing and we had no cell service to call her. So we just left the Bible in the mailbox with a note. And then drove the hour home haha. I took a video that I was hoping to send you but its too long and wont send. It is so funny.

Elder Peck and I got into towel whipping one day. It was so funny. I nailed him a few times and it looked like a Paintball gun welt haha it was hilarious.

So one of these pictures Im sending yall is of a tree branch that had grown into a power line and they cut around it and just left it. Pretty funny.
Elder Peck's welts from the towel.
And some pics of old crappy houses. Some people actually live in houses like this. This is Moonshine country here. True back hills of Kentucky. Actually kinda scary sometimes.

A sign we saw on the road.

Love y'all! Have a stupendous day!
Oh and I forgot. I Had a dream the other night that I was going to a temple. Don't remember what temple I just remember having my temple recommend. I saw Steve and Colleen Long there. She looked like she had a normal body instead of a body so big she could barely walk. But I recognized her and I hugged her and we just cried because we were so happy. It was so cool to see them at the temple. They wanted to go to the temple and be married when they hit their year mark but then she died. But she went out of this life wanting to live the gospel and to go to the temple. So I fully believe that they will inherit the Celestial Kingdom because of that desire that they had.
